Tawd Vale Adventure Camp, Lancashire
Tawd Vale Adventure Camp is set within 80 acres of pretty Woodland in the West Lancashire countryside. With an on-site lake, river and woodland, this spacious camp is ideal for a school residential. With space for 216 + teachers, we can cater for whole year groups and at £145+VAT for 2 nights and £275pp+VAT for 4 nights this trip offers excellent value in the peak summer months.
Immersing your pupils in the great outdoors is the best way to build confidence and resilience. Leaving gadgets and screens behind, this back to basics camping adventure gets pupils sleeping under the stars, enjoying campfires, building shelters and enjoying a range of other outdoor activities that get pupils living and working together. With high ropes, water sports and a range of other exciting activities on the itinerary, the most popular activities are on the list too!
Our aim is to provide a quality, fun and educational programme for pupils. Our professional staff are trained to deliver to your aims and objectives and to ensure that each young person gets the most they can out of their summer camp experience.
Activities
The activities at Tawd Vale are all designed to build confidence, encourage team building & improve communication skills by immersing pupils in outdoor `camp life` and providing a range of outdoor activities that challenge and inspire.
Activities here include canoe rafts on the on-site lake, raft building, high ropes, axe throwing (new!), archery, bushcraft, bridge building, circus skills, team building, nightline and even a mini-expedition!

Canoe Rafts
Based on traditional open canoe skills, 2 canoes are joined to form a single stable craft. New skills will be learned with a high degree of teamwork needed to complete challenges and games during the session.

Raft Building
After building a strong and safe improvised raft from poles, barrels and ropes groups will launch onto the water and attempt to paddle around a course. A fun and challenging water based activity that will encourage teamwork, communication, and creative thought; planning and decision making are the key here.

Axe Throwing
This new & popular activity is fun, exciting and hugely rewarding. The aim is to hit the target with the axe and requires focus and skill. Who will win the competition?

High Ropes
High Ropes are an aerial adventure course which involves attaching participants to ropes high above the ground. Within this activity there are multiple exercises that allow individuals to physically and mentally challenge themselves; developing trust & communication skills.

Archery
Archery is the sport or skill of shooting with a bow and arrows at a target. Archery is fun and very easy to learn. Team elements can be introduced through a partner giving coaching or through games.

Bushcraft
Bushcraft develops a broad range of skills and knowledge. Activities inlcude shelter building, camp craft and fire lighting. It’s a great way to teach young people about living and working sustainably and in an eco-friendly manner.

Bridge Building
The groups use a selection of ropes and pulleys to construct a traditional Bridge and move the team across. Creative thought, improvisation, trust and teamwork are the key to keeping dry feet.

Nightline
Participants guide each other through a challenge course whilst blindfolded. This activity helps develop communication, trust and teamwork skills whilst also being a fun way to explore the use of all other senses.

Mini- Expedition
Expedition day is a self-led exploratory activity with elements of First Aid training. Participants will learn vital navigation skills whilst exploring the local countryside. Problem solving and first aid tasks along the way help to develop vital lifeskills.

Team Building
A range of problem solving challenges, some physical and some more cognitive all involving extensive teamwork. These sessions are great for bringing teams together or to explore dynamics within existing groups.

Circus Skills
Ever wanted to spin plates, learn to juggle, or throw a diablo high in the air? A great session for learning new skills whilst having fun. Learn classic circus entertainer tricks whilst developing hand eye coordination and the sense of determination that comes from try try and trying again.

Summer Camp Life
Immersing pupils fully into Camp Life is what Tawd Vale is all about...sleeping under the stars, campfires and a range of outdoor activities delivered by our enthusiastic team. Pupils leave more resilient, more confident and with lots of fun memories.
Accommodation & Facilities
Camping is all part of the adventure and makes this residential that bit more exciting for your pupils who may never have slept under the stars before!
You'll stay in proper tents that will be set up for you, within your own camp area on the 80 acre woodland site. Thick comfortable camp mats are provided for a good nights sleep, just bring your own sleeping bag and pillow (and a torch!).
We use one 8 person tent between every six people to ensure they have plenty of room and we use separate camping areas for males and females to ensure that relevant safeguarding policies are appropriately enacted.
Teachers will have their own shared tents which are set up to provide additional privacy. We also provide large marquees to use as social/meeting spaces.
There are dedicated toilet and shower facilities on site.
Food
We know that food is very important on a school trip so we take great care to provide ample food that will be enjoyed by pupils and teachers. Every day at breakfast time we provide cereal, bread and butter with jam, fresh fruit, fruit juice and additional hot options such as baked beans, eggs and porridge. Hot drinks are also available at breakfast.
Lunch is all about getting stuck and having some independence so our domestic team provide everything you need to make yourself a hearty packed lunch including snacks - all you need is to bring your lunchbox, mug and water bottle.
Each evening we provide freshly prepared cooked meals including a delicious treat for dessert! To give you an idea, here is a sample menu.
Sample Evening Menu
Monday - Mild beef chilli served with rice, pitta bread, fresh plain yoghurt and salad. Chocolate or blueberry muffin for dessert.
Tuesday - Mild chicken balti curry served with rice. Rich chocolate brownie for dessert.
Wednesday - Pasta bolognese made with fresh mince beef, herbs and tomato with pasta and grated cheese. Classic choc ice for dessert.
Thursday - Make your own chicken fajitas. We give you a mix of chicken, vegetables, fajita wraps, chilli sauce, sour cream dressing, homemade tomato salsa, grated cheese and salad. Finish off with a giant, triple chocolate cookie.
