Adventure Weekends & Activity Days for Uniform Groups, with Bespoke Adventure Programmes
Making full use of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales on our doorstep our Adventure Weekends & Activity Days are ideal for uniform groups and we offer bespoke programmes so that you can choose what you want to do out of our 30 exciting activities!
As a small & friendly centre, we offer a personal service and offer your group a home from home with comfortable indoor accommodation, exclusive use of your own floor or building (subject to min numbers). We provide bedding, water proofs and access to our on-site drying room, making things that bit easier for you during your stay. All activities are included as well as your meals and evening entertainment.
Our home-cooked menu means that you are fully catered for and will enjoy good quality food & locally sourced ingredients. We can cater for a range of dietary requirements.
Sample Weekend
Friday
Arrive at 5pm to settle in and have dinner at around 6pm. Then on to the evening activity of climbing, making use of our extensive 10m on-site indoor and outdoor climbing walls. Relax & sing songs around the campfire.
Saturday
Water sports Day
Enjoy a range of water sports including Giant SUPs, canoeing & raft building. Return back to High Adventure for on-site orienteering, dinner & evening entertainment- Circus Skills!
Sunday
Spend the morning enjoying Leap of Faith & Zipwire, then it's time for lunch, farewells & depart for home after a fun-filled weekend of activities.
Activities
High Adventure offers one of the best UK Outdoor Adventure for Guides & Scouts, Junior Rugby and Football teams alike with an excellent range of off-site activities making full use of the local area including real caving in the Yorkshire Dales, water sports, rock climbing & more. We also have a great selection of on-site activities with a high quality indoor climbing wall, outdoor climbing wall, high ropes courses and more! We will work with you to create the best adventure for your group.
With 30 activities available, you'll be spoilt for choice. All activities are delivered by our DBS checked, qualified enthusiastic and professional team of instructors who will give your pupils a fun-filled session that builds confidence and encourages team-work. Canoeing
Great fun in an exciting new watery environment; Raft up the canoes for stability and head out onto the water to learn how to paddle and steer through a series of exciting, action packed, fun games...
Raft Building
A fun and challenging water based activity that will encourage teamwork, communication, and creative thought; planning and decision making are the key here. Smiles are guaranteed...
Caving
A session exploring the underground world of limestone caves and passageways in the Yorkshire Dales. Groups will learn about the processes involved in the creation of caves and the unusual formations seen.
Giant SUPs
Our Giant stand up paddle boards are pretty unique, 5m surfboards that will take 8 group members who stand and paddle the board. A very wet session that will be full of laughs...
Leap of Faith
Up to 3 children work together to reach the top of our 8 metre Jacobs ladder challenge; Climbing horizontal beams that grow ever further apart some clever ‘out of the box’ thinking and innovative ideas will be needed...
Labyrinth
Always one of our most popular sessions; an indoor underground maze, bringing caving indoors. Two levels of passageways and chambers with obstacles along the way. Pupils will explore the maze trying to find locations and different exits...
Archery
Following an introduction, pupils receive coaching for their first arrows, until they are confident and have the skills needed to get arrows on target. Pupils use bows appropriate to their size and strength...
Accommodation
& Food
High Adventure offers your group excellent indoor accommodation
You will stay in modern & comfortable dormitory accommodation with separate leader rooms (some with en-suite) and leaders have lounge areas and access to a kitchen for tea & coffee.
The main centre has two accommodation buildings. The main 93 bed centre is complemented by an additional 59 bed building called The Nook.
The Nook is a self-contained accommodation building designed for the use of groups of up to 57 students and 7 leaders. It has its own dining room, social spaces and teachers’ lounge. The Nook is separate to the 100 bed main centre accommodation. Both buildings can be booked for exclusive use.
Each building also has multiple breakout areas and additional entertainment.
We also have fantastic onsite catering facilities for residential’s schemes with a set weekly menu you can view here. Our wonderful domestic staff are also able to cater to a wide variety of dietary requirements. Location
We are ideally located on the edge of the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, surrounded by open countryside which we make full use of during your stay. With excellent road links, we are within easy reach of a number of motorways.
